How do intensives work?

Intensive Schedule

The standard intensive consists of 10 sessions of 2 hours each, for a total of 20 hours. This can be divided into either:

 • 1 week; 4 hours total each day

 • 2 weeks; 2 hours each day

Session 1: Assessment

We begin with a thorough assessment. All testing that we perform in the office is included:

 • qEEG Brain Mapping

 • Vagus Nerve Assessment

 • Primitive Reflex Testing

 • Sensorimotor Milestone Screening

 • Vestibular Assessment

 • Oculomotor Testing

 • Cognitive Testing

Your child's assessment is used to create their unique therapy program.

Brain mapping allows us to create more individualized laser protocols than ever before.

Specific stimulation sites, wavelengths and frequencies are chosen to best support your child's development and healing.

Sessions 2-9: Therapies

Every therapy plan is unique. Any and all therapies that we offer can be included in our intensives, as appropriate for each child.

Generally speaking, therapy plans will consist of both:

 • Active Therapies. These are therapies your child actively participates in. For example, primitive reflex exercises, vestibular therapy, or neurofeedback. Active therapies serve to strengthen the brain "from the inside".

 • Passive Therapies. Therapies such as laser, pulsed magnetic field, and vagus nerve stimulation don't require active effort from your child, and serve to stimulate the brain "from the outside".

The combination of active and passive therapies not only complement each other and make the program even more effective- they also give kids some "down time" during each session.

Though intensive schedules are just that- intense- with the combination of active and passive therapies, most kids are able to successfully complete even the 4 hour days without issue.

You can view a full list of potential therapies here.

Session 10: Home Program Review

During all of our therapy sessions, you will be as involved as possible with many of the activities, to prepare you to continue with your home care program.

Depending on the program, you may be taught to coach your child through exercises, learn brain training activities to perform with them, or be trained on various apps or devices we may recommend.

This culminates with our final session together, when we'll review the home program one last time and make sure you feel confident about your next steps.

You'll receive your laser, which is yours to take home and keep, programmed with your child's unique protocols.

Follow Up

We want you to keep in touch! We love getting updates on our kids, and are always happy to answer any questions that arise during your home program.

You can call or text any time, but we'll also schedule a video follow-up for a few months after your intensive.

This gives us a chance to check in on progress, make any appropriate tweaks to the home program, and determine the need for any further care together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our clinic is located in sunny Jacksonville Beach, Florida - just steps from the ocean!

Yes! Intensive programs are our preferred way to practice, as they allow for more accelerated progress and prepare you to continue your child's care at home.

We work with kids with a wide variety of developmental, behavioral and neurological challenges. From autism, ADHD and dyslexia, to mood disorders like anxiety and depression, to concussion and other brain injuries. Please reach out to us to see how we can help with your child's specific condition.

We don't have a hard cutoff for age, but our active therapies are most appropriate for kids that have at least some ability to understand simple instructions, ie, "stand on one foot".

Our program is highly specific to pediatrics. In some cases, we will work with young adults, if it is a continuation of a childhood issue. Otherwise, we'll refer you to a colleague that specializes in adult care.

Our standard 20 hour intensive costs $3500, which includes a laser, programmed with your custom protocols, which is yours to take home and keep.

To reserve your intensive slot, we require a non-refundable booking fee of $500. The remainder of the cost is due at the time of service.

This type of program is not covered by insurance.

The booking fee is non-refundable. Beyond that, each session is billed separately, and you are only ever charged for services that actually happen.

In other words, if the intensive is cancelled or cut short for any reason, you are not "on the hook" for anything else.

If we do need to cancel or reschedule, we just ask for as much notice as possible so that we can try to offer the slot to another family.

The cost of the intensive includes all testing and therapies that we offer, as well as your laser to take home. We have nothing else to upsell!

We may however make recommendations for outside services or products such as:

• Lab work or other testing

• Nutritional supplements

• Therapy equipment

None of these are required to complete the intensive, but we may make suggestions to support your home program progress.

During our video consultation, once we've had a chance to go through your child's history we'll be able to give more specifics about how we can help.

Generally speaking, we hope to see initial signs of progress during the intensive itself- and we've certainly seen some incredible things! But the effects of the program will also grow over time, and the home program is a crucial component of this.

The intensive is designed to kickstart progress, and to empower you to continue care at home. That's why we usually schedule our follow-up for 6 months after the intensive- so that we can judge the impact of the full program.

We work with a very wide variety of children, from relatively minor behavioral challenges, to significant delays and disabilities.

Many families feel satisfied with the progress seen during a single intensive and home program.

Other children require ongoing support in a general sense, and there may be more work that we can do together.

We're generally able to achieve the specific goals that we set for each program. For children with ongoing challenges, we can decide together if it makes sense to continue care to work on other areas.

We can give a better idea of this once we've had a chance to go through your child's history in our video consultation.
